I may have missed this but,?

Has anyone contacted the BLM to see what the useage rights to rush are?

If so what was their response on access?

I had another chat with Rush Mike. (west side)
He will have is property fenced by May, but is deciding how to work with us, if the water gets to high.
We discussed the short period of use for us and Rush,
now until it mosses over, then maybe some fall water time.

According to him, the triangle property has always been private.
He knew it was incorrect on previous BLM maps, it was discovered during his surveying for the new properties.
He believes that the property is owned by Wilsons?, so called "pig Farm" house.
His feeling is that if they were bothered by us on the property, we would have been banished years ago.

Brian,
Is this the same map that BLM tells me I would have to go to their office and pay for to get up to date info?
My contact said I need to contact the real estate/ recreation division for up to date map.

Thanks for your help.

Billy,
My BLM contact is in enforcement, and he see's no issue with us on the water,
It's all about access, at this point.
We will most likely, always have access on BLM land, to the north of where we like to launch.

Marty

Nice, I sent a open semi anyoumous, well I used my middle name, e-mail to the BLM under their contact us page asking about rush access, they had a channel set up for recreation questions. I am interested to recive a response. But now that I see we can still use rush just not were we want to launch I am sure that will be their answer.

It is crazy to see how the property has been sold off n divided.

The forcast looks ok for saturday and people are already gearing up for some rush action.

Here are maps with names and parcel numbers, I have addresses for some of these as well. These names are a couple years old so I don't know for sure if Michael Wilson still owns the wedge of land where we like to launch. The best way to get current info is to contact the Tooele county recorders office with the parcel ID, sometimes they will tell you over the phone and sometimes you need to be there in person.
I may get around to this in a couple days, if anyone else wants to give it a shot here's the info.
http://www.co.tooele.ut.us/recorder.htm

The big parcel that has most of the North end of the lake on it(parcel ID 01-187-A-0001) is questionable in my data. The parcel data says it's private but doesn't list a name. Sometimes the person drawing these boundaries gets lazy and fudges the data, I have seen this many times in Tooele County. To answer Marty's question about the accuracy of the BLM data(yellow shading) Is this case I trust the BLM data over the parcel data but we need to research this more.

A few of us talked to the owner of the property we are playing on.
"Rush Ryan", another cool guy, we are so lucky.
His grandpa's name is the name listed above.
He has no issue with us on the property.

All he asks is to clean up after our selves.

We are golden, as far as Rush goes.

The only issue will be it the water goes very high,
We will then talk to the land owners and work out access.

Rush MARTY!!! Muchas gracias! You too Brian.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate and helping out...

Let's hope that we have to address the issue in the future of the water going up too high!

Marty,

The land adjacent to the lake does not have much value. I wonder how much we could buy property now and protect ourselves from future development.

Kenny-
Funny you should mention that. I have been hoping that YOU would buy a parcel for us. :)

Kenny,
I would have to disagree with you on this one. The way I see it, any Rancher that has property with water on it, or near by,
probably considers it some of the most valuable property they own. And with Rush water, if they can get access to it, they don't have to pay anything for all the water they can use.
The Rancher can graze livestock on the property without hauling water to them, luckily we have not seen much livestock at our launch for many years now.
From the 3 property owners that I have talked to, most of the land right next to the water, seems to be in the same families that homesteaded the property.

I can get you the phone numbers if you want to make an offer, but I imagine it will be a futile call.

As far as the UWA,, why buy the cow, when the milk comes free.
I'm very confident that if we do eventually loose access on the west side, we will be able to rent access on the east side.

We went to Rush today.
The middle road in was fine, going in to our usual spot,
but the wind blew the water over the road, one car got stuck on the middle road driving out.
The rest of us drove up in the weeds, when we left.
The land owner doesn't want us to do that.

Park by the corrals tomorrow, plenty of water. We need to wait for the water to go down, before we can use the middle road again.
The land owner had his fence cut, and is not as likely to let us use his property for access now.
The corrals seems to be a fine option, for now.

Hopefully the water will get so deep it cuts off all the roads.
On that note, what about the south entrance, or new road that has been cut?
Can we get to the beach from there?

The old south entrance is now over private property, so no.
The new road? maybe you are referring to the pipeline that has been laid?
That is on private property, after BLM lad also.

I know there will be lots of activity at Rush today, 6/1
it will be a tipping point for us out there.

The east side, once again, may be our best option if we want to get access further south on the lake.
But it will come with a locked gate, and paid access.
I suggest we just live with the BLM access this year, the moss is building on the bottom very fast.
(at least it felt like it on my feet when I stood in the middle yesterday)
The lake will probably moss over quickly after the warm up occurs.

I asked a friend of mine about title searches on the land for easements etc. It's pretty spendy.

I'll echo what Marty is saying... We need to be vigilant right now respecting the owner's property lines etc. If we are very careful now it'll help to open doors/gates, or at least keep them open till we figure out the options...

It'll be fresh water for a while... Well compared to the saltiness of before... That'll not help the moss build up...
