Got there at 7:30 to lots of whitecaps. John and I debated for a while between the 5.2’s or 4.7’s. Chose the 5.2’s/86L’s and paid for it with 5 round trips getting beat to death. No wonder; while we were debating sail size the winds had risen to 26g32. Josh and Mike were wiser and went with 4.0’s on their 100+Liter boards. John and I switched to 4.0’s too. Wildly gusty even for 4.0’s, especially anywhere near the dike. I blew at least 50% of the jibes on the east side. I switched to the 75L board and was quite comfortable on the west 2/3 of the lake but still getting pounded on the east side. I finally wore out as the wind meter climbed to36g43 and I bagged it. We must have resembled an absolute rodeo as Patrick never rigged. Mike didn’t make very many round trips either before he decided to live for another day. Josh seemed to make the most jibes as he seemed smart enough to turn early if the east side looked too whipped up.

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
