Strong ridgetop winds will scour the area this morning. Forecast is for 25 - 30 mph winds with gusts to 55 this morning and then decreasing throughout the day. Expect wind in the high teens the afternoon. Hopefully, the winds this morning will not remove the freshly fallen snow that arrived the past few days. Expect sunny skies. Today is probably the day to fuel your car up with cheap gas and head down in the afternoon.

Weekend - high pressure ridge is building which can be a wind-killer at Skyline. We may get lucky with some upper level winds. However, I would not count on the daily thermal. High pressure usually diminishes or kills the afternoon thermal as cold air gets trapped in the valleys while it warms up and melts the snow up high. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the high pressure ridge does not last very long.

I concur... today is the day at Skyline.

I can see that its been clear skies since sunrise and the winds are supposed to kick. I'm out the door NOW!

If you have a drysuit, Utah Lake is rideable this morning as per our roving windwatcher, Marty Lowe. Wind will be in the upper teens/low 20's this morning and should fade later in the day. If you go, you are going to need the whole enchilada - hood, booties, gloves, and warm gear beneath the drysuit (rubber won't be enough). If you do go take a friend, you don't want to go it alone when the air and water temps are this cold.
