12/23 Kenny's Where to Ride

Oh man, all that snow and not much wind... Looks like we might get lucky today at Skyline, but it is looking weak. If you have a huge kite and a huge board, you might get rides this afternoon. The point forecast is only promising 5 mph winds, but I think it will crack low teens this afternoon. Strawberry might go off, but it is at a lower elevation, so it is much more iffy. The bigger problem is snow depth. It should be incredibly deep and on the heavy side with only minimal wind, it is going to be a challenge. On a more positive note, this last snowstorm has given us an incredible base, when the wind does arrive, it is going to be amazing out there. Strawberry should now be totally open. The Cottonwood Canyon Ski resorts went from pre-storm base totals around 60" to 100+ in less than a week. That is incredible. If you want the sure bet today, go to one of the gravity-fed resorts.

Friday looks dead.

Christmas Day looks like low to mid-teens at PowMow and Skyline as a front approaches.

11 AM update. Strawberry appears to be on based on the Daniel's meter. Not sure of strength and visibility. Skyline appears to still be socked in. I am headed to Strawberry.

Note to newbies. The snow will be deep. Will be a frustrating day for learning.
