I arrived about 2pm to see Jim S getting some fast rides on his 6.0. Lot's of up and down wind, but thought I should rig my 7.2 like I normally do for DC. I drove down the boat ramp and started rigging, but was surprised, by the strong gusts. Pulled out the wind meter, and got several gusts reading 30 right on the beach. Of course there was also the sudden drops to almost nothing, and Jim even came off of a plane. I decided the 7.2 would be too much, and put it, and the big board, back in the van, and opted for a 6.2 and 106. After I was rigged, I was hessitant to leave my rig on the rocky beach, with the gusts that, were coming. I stacked about 50 lbs of rocks on my sail and board, and hoped for the best. Of course by the time I was in my suit, and had driven the van up to park, and got back to my rig....I was wishing that I had my 7.2. But sure enough with in 10 min. here came the next band of strong wind. I jumped on and got 3 or 4 full powered rides on the 6.2 wahhoooo. But then it was time to schlog, get thumped by wind from the other direction, then no wind at all, then enough to limp in back to the beach, and done!
