The NWS forecast wasn't too encouraging, "Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. East southeast wind 7 to 11 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon," and the wind seemed pretty fluky, but the sky was clear, the air was warm, and DC has been ice free for a couple of weeks.

My big board/big sail combo (not as big as Josh's!) produced sedate cruising punctuated by occasional bouts of planing. A kiter upwind at BWB appeared to be experiencing similar conditions.

The water level is high enough to permit convenient launching at Charleston (and, I assume, at BWB) but the lake is not as full as it was at this time last year. Water temp (at the surface, in the shallows) is already up to almost 50F.

That was me. I was barely getting rides on a 15m edge but I was happy to test the water. I was super warm in a 5/3, booties, no gloves. :)))
