4/9 Grantsville 135 JP Excite, 6.2 RW sail
Noticed the wind going off last night and still strong in the early morning so I headed out and rigged the 6.2--Ken O arrived shortly after. There were the usual lulls, but was mostly overpowered. If fact, I missed my footstraps during a couple of strong gusts, got slammed over the front and cracked the nose of my board. I was too stoked to jump in the wind and didn't put my boom pad on the front. The JP excite is famous for cracking the nose, so I guess I'm not alone in ordering the nose guard. Ken let me sail his Carve 135 and had another hour or two of good wind. Ken sailed a 6.0 and most of the time on an 85 liter board. (Five weeks after back surgery--the back still week but obviously plenty of huevos) Left around noon when the wind died, but a fine morning.--Tom
