It was blowing nice to the west and the pressure gradients looked good. Still, it just didn’t quite kick in as expected, especially for the size gear I was on. I plotted out the Provo Airport wind readings compared to Tuesday afternoon and they were almost identical and yet I was ripping Tuesday and having trouble Thursday. Has anyone observed a difference between Provo and Saratoga wind readings. I have always rigged based on Provo airport readings and have been right on. I waited 2 hours watching 8.5’s struggling, got an airport reading of 19mph gust, went out for a half hour catching a few nice planers, wrenched my back trying to uphaul, and quit. It was a drop dead gorgeous afternoon so oh well. Too many sailors to name tried 6.5’ to 8.5’s but most quit pretty quick. Larry was rigging a 9.5 and Formula board when I left and I am sure he went flying. With his huge fin he was probably going to rake in lots of reeds to. Yellow Freight has my new 9.0 on the way so I can be better prepared for days like this.
