Utah Lake - Lindon Beach 4/24, 4/26
Post is a bit late - my first days this year. Tuesday was blowing quite hard as I arrived and rigged a 6.0. By the time I got on the water it had backed off a bit - but since I only had an hour to sail, I did not want to spend most of the time rigging - so I stuck with it. Slogged and Planed but still fun. Was only one out.
Thursday I learned my lesson and rigged a 6.9. Water was noticeably warmer. Brad was sailing with me this time. The first couple runs were overpowered, but then it backed off for pretty smooth sailing. I tried the GPS thing for the first time - wrapped a forerunner in a waterproof bag and attached it to my boom clamp. So I could not read it at all while sailing - but the max speed recorded was 26.3.
Average speed over an hour was 9.5 - missing too many jibes and jumps.
Need to work on the setup a bit and figure out how to get more data from the GPS. I don't trust it being very waterproof. Wind readings were generally 17 gusting to 22 while we were out. Anyone using a forerunner with success?
