Had another great time out in the salt flats. Wind was steady from the north. Could've launched the 12, but was powered enough on the 9. Justin showed up and we did some 5 mile reaches until the ground got a bit soft. Logged about 20 miles before it was time to go. The wind tapered off a bit around 7:00, but I was spent anyhow. It was fun to ride with someone else out there. It would be nice to see some other riders show up. I don't think the spot could ever get overcrowded. Just think of the flats as miles and miles of butter smooth water and no mud! I've even got an extra mountain board if anyone wants to try it out.

It was an excellent day. Burm is turning out some nice rides and will only get faster/better as it keeps drying out. I second the notion that more riders is better. Mike's GPS finally gave me an idea of just how enormous the place is. I'm figuring at least 10 miles of buttery-smooth flats. Probably more like 12 or 15.
For anyone going out there, the wind turns out every afternoon from the north starting at about 1pm, at the perfect speed for about a 10-12m Frenzy. Also, it's good to keep an eye on the texture of the ground. The smoother it looks, the softer it's likely to be. If it seems cracked like dry lakebed, then it's likely to be harder and faster. Good to keep an eye forward so you can expect the changes. As it's still fairly soft out there, you'll need a bigger kite than you'd think.
Hope to see y'all out there.

I tried my 19M SilverArrow there earlier this week. The wind was on and off again, so it wasn't ideal for such a big kite. I also had a Core 8 MTB mountain board which is a piece of crap. I bought it because my old board was so heavy. The Core 8 is light, but the skateboard trucks and thin tires make it a real chore to ride. I should have done my homework! I am upgrading it this week to a comp 16 or a pro 6.
I will be out there or on the Salt Ponds. If you see me on the salt ponds honk when you drive by.
