Sat, we arrived afternoon, to a very full Piute. It was a lot bigger than I remember, and more campers than I have ever seen there. Conditions were breezy, and sometimes windy, and from every direction. the puffs would last about 5min. and then be completely gone. I never did even rig that day.

It blew all night...and had a decent almost steady, breeze Sunday morning. Since I'm not much of a morning person, I waited for a while before rigging a 9.0. It was about right for the next hour or so, until the wind started getting gusty. I had some wild rides on the fat gear and hung on as long as I could. I thought if I rested for a while that it would steady out again......wrong. I did not even dare leave my equipment rigged on the beach for fear of damage on the rocky shore, with the always changing wind. It was again, very gusty and came from unexpected directions the rest of the day.

Monday we got up to a calm lake, and decided to go for a mtn bike ride, up one of the atv trails. Nice trail but very loose in spots, that made it very challenging. By the time we got back, I had missed an hour of good steady wind, and it was calming down. I need lunch any way, and to my surprise it kicked back up again. Rigged a 7.2/106 and had decent South wind for an hour and a half. No other WS'rs, not even Linda, who is still nursing her sore knee, and only a few boats on the water. It was very nice sailing, even sunny and warm.

Tuesday woke up to weak North wind. Everyone was gone except on small fishing boat on the water and one truck fishing from the beach. We decided to pack up too. We were almost finished packing, when the wind finally picked up, and I again rigged a 7.2 and got to ride in pretty steady wind for an hour and a half, when it again, started to get holey. It was fun to test the new GPS, and check out speeds. Fast for me, but slow compared to some of our Utah speedsters.

We had north winds all the way home, and as we passed Provo, it looked good and windy. Had I know that the downwinder was taking place, we probably could have seen some of them on the water. Sorry I missed the whole thing, it sounded like a really fun adventure.

Just an FYI....no cell phone coverage anywhere around Piute. We lost signal just 2 miles off of I-15 and never saw it again. Our friends with atv's said they got a signal on top of the mountains, that are to the west of Piute, but it took them a while to get up there.

Over all a very fun, and windy weekend @ Piute.
