BONUS DAY! The best DC sailing in quite some time!! The expected weak N breeze sifted to the SW at 11. Didn't look too exciting, but I've been fooled many times, so a little before noon I decided to head down to the Island and check it out. When I got there, the wind was starting to look quite impressive. 6.6 or 6.0? Initially decided on the 6.6, but by the time I got it out of the bag, the wind meter was showing a peak gust of 25 MPH. 6.0! Adequate power from the start, gradually building to almost too much. Remarkably steady for DC (no drop-the-kite-out-of-the-sky lulls) and very few powerboats. Mike Hill was next to join the fun, followed a bit later by Judy Collins. By about 3:45, the wind had backed off to the point that we were spending more time scholgging than planing. Big smiles all around as we derigged!!!
