wow is right. what a great break out of the doldrums. good to see everybody there in the shifty winds and get some riding in.

you get any good pictures Mark?

it was very beautiful out there with the rain at the end, rainbows, and the magnificent sun setting behind the clouds. at one point i looked up while riding in the light rain and saw my kite parked up in the middle of a full on halfcircle rainbow. wow.

By the look of the clouds none of us should have been riding at SSB last night. Almost the entire time out I was thinking that big dark ominous looking mass to the south of us was going to shut us down but it seemed to stay just far enough south to let us have our (much needed) fix.

To emphasize how much we threaded the needle last night when I drove home the roads looked pretty wet with huge puddles which made it seem like it was pouring rain only about 1.5 miles to the south. Then when I looked at PVU (this morning) it looks like the wind was dead the entire time we were out. Ryan had mentioned a SW wind in Orem when he drove down and the flags in Spanish Fork were dead still as I drove towards the beach. It was as if the entire valley was in wind choas (or calm) yet SSB was a little isolated bit of heaven.

Maybe the most amazing thing was that so many people drove down on pure faith (or was it more analogous to blue-balls!). I was thinking "skunked" my entire drive out but my drive is short enough that I figured "what the hell". The drive from SLC requires a significant higher commitment, I'm glad your determination was so well rewarded. I counted 14 kites at one time which is close to as many as I have ever seen at SSB.

Anyway a very fun night with a great cast of characters. As Mike said the scenery was also spectacular.
