If you haven't surfed/sailed there, you're in for a treat...get some nice life insurance from Josh Shirley first.

looks like a lot of fun. If I sailed there for my first wave I would need to wear some of those nasa diapers that Rick raves about.

NASA diapers for sure.
I'm a little confused on the direction of the wind there. It looks of shore by the wind spray off the waves. But then the sailor makes it look like it's coming on-shore. My conclusion is side off? From the north? But no idea. Also the waves actually look big but manageable the way they are breaking. If it's on shore, they break heavy. But these appear to be breaking pretty light.
Ya don't see the cali coast like that very often.

You're right Rick, the wind is side/side off from the north. If you look at the photo with the sailor in it there is a white wave that's about to break for real. That's where the real crunch is.
The sailor in the picture is schlogging in no man's land. From the backside of a wave to about where he is the wind is light. Close to the wave is where the wind is. As the wave gets closer he'll pick up speed, but probably not enough. My guess is he got munched.
