Big Horn Mtn. Range, Wy...1-28 Bullaroo 10m
As I left Cody, Wy on monday the weather started to get bad, by the time I got to the bottom of the canyon the snow was falling, about 10 miles up it was dumping and blowing hard... By the time I got to the Bear lodge at the top the snow let up but the wind was still cranking. As i was in my room I had no cell service but I had internet, as I checked the forecast it was saying SW winds 25-35 with gust up tp 50 and temps at 7 deg and wind chill at -27 deg(damb) I woke up at 7 to snowmobilers revving there engines, I looked out side and it was clear skies and cranking wind.. I started my truck to let it warm up and my temp gage said it was 1 deg... I drove back towards the other lodge where there is a big opening. I got out and pumped the 10m bullaroo(the smallest kite I have) I launched and took off acrossed the flats on about 3-6 inches of wind blown snow, as I got up wind the snow depth was a lot better over 1ft of pow pow.. Had some huge fully powerd elevator ride jumps from 1 rolling hill to the next. I had the hole lodge watching me bost higher then I have ever jumped on snow before.. Lots of stocked snowmobilers. I rode fully lit for about 3 hrs. then had to go do some work in sheridan Wy... All in all a knarly cold session I love the Big Horns. I think late march is the time to go to the big horns, any earlier its just to damb cold If you have any exposed skin you will get frost bite super fast...Im heading back up there around the end of march if any one wants to gone me...
