Arrived at 7:45. Rigged the 5.7 and it was the right call. A little up and down, but it actually was much more fun then the other three blowouts this Spring. Mike E. followed along with George W and Josh. Left when it died around 11:15, just and Duane C. pulled up. Great morning.

Well, I'm glad to see that others had fun and that I have such a great effect on the weather. I arrived at Grantsville at about 1:30 and rigged a 6.8. I made about 4 or 5 passes on the lake and the wind died to nothing. Now, when I check the wind log, I see that it died just for me, then picked up again just as I gave up and left. Wonderful! Like I say, I never knew I could affect the weather so measurably. Such is life. By the way, thanks to Eric Christensen for the help and conversation. Sorry you didn't get to sail, but it was a good decision to drive away. The wind died to nothing just after you left.

Well Rick we missed you. Grantsville is most definitely a morning affair. On rare occassions the wind will be good in the afternoon. Ken O says that there is typically a lull between 11:30 and 2:30 then if it is going to blow it will. So next time there is a south forecast show up at 8am and join the crew.

The water is still the coldest of all the lakes but I think it warmed up one degree from 33 to 34. Anyway it was fun mid size runs until it backed off like Tom reported. Mike and I spent 30 minutes practicing knee deep uphauls and schloging tacks.

Well, I had contemplated going to MM19, but the Provo airport was only registering about 12 mph winds or less while Grantsville was reading 17 to 20, so I chose Grantsville. Now that I see your post about MM19, I see I really missed out; but I've been skunked too many times down there. If fact, I've never had a really good day down there at all. I sure wish there was a better indicator for the west side of Utah Lake. The old link that I had for a Saratoga Springs weather station in the housing development just above the park is now gone. Although it was well above the water, it was better than nothing. Now the closest I can find is six miles north at the south end of the Oquirrhs or at the pump station, and that one is hidden down in the trees and totally worthless.

Josh is crazy. The water has only warmed up from frozen to liquid. Coldest water in the state? But great wind!
