Heading to Grants at 6:30 am watching the sun come up at my back and listening to Lucinda Williams, Sweet Old World---what a fine morning. Arrived at 7:15 watching Ken O. ripping it up on the water and John F. watching with a permagrin. Mike E. soon followed with Sara and Linda getting their beauty sleep and not showing until 9:30. It was 63 degrees on arrival and 82 when I left at 11:15 after the wind dropped. With the balmy weather I didn't use my hood and was quickly reminded that the water is still cold. Used the 135 JP when the wind started to funk out, but sailed the 5.7 all morning... it was fabulous

What a way to start June. Boy am I glad Penny was banging around at 5:00 this morning. I got up, took a look at Grants readings, expecting nothing, and never stopped. This ended up being as good a Dawn Patrol as any I have had. Maybe it was the drought of sailing since the fine session last Saturday. I was on the water before 7:00 and only took a 10-minute break to put on a cooler, short sleeve wetsuit (and take 4 Ibuprofen to make sure the back didn’t act up). It was great to have a wild session in before 9:00. The 6.0 Infinity was fully powered to way fully powered 95% of the time and the little 85L Sonic was screaming. My biggest problems were I was too hot from the extreme exercise (read Grants Jibefest) and John kept trying to leave me in the dust with his new JP. I only missed one jibe in 3.5 hours of sailing and I was stoked. Once I had the short sleeve suit on I definitely wasn’t going to fall. Tom, Mike, and John showed up early, and Mike’s friend? and Sarah and Linda showed up later. The girls were headed for another session at Deer Creek; what a dedicated pair. The water level is holding its own now that the farmers have to pay for the water.

I was a little bummed when I woke up kind of late...8am and saw that Ken had called and left me a message. I knew what that ment....that Grant's was blowing. I looked online and sure enough, it had been blowing at Grants since 4am. I think we were loaded and gone in 20 minutes. We of course worried most of the way there that we had missed it, but it turned out ok, and we got about an hour and a half of powered rides on the 5.4's. There were lots of smiley faces, and happy sailors. It was definately worth the trip.

Then on the way home from Grants, we got a call from the Bardshaws, who said that DC was blowing pretty good....Plans for mowing the grass went right out the window, and we headed for DC. It was a typical DC day, and was very windy when we arrived, and looked alot less windy by the time we were rigging. Decided on a 7.2 and big board, and was mostly powered for the next couple of hours. Sometimes schlogging, and sometimes OP'd. Over all a pretty good session. the sailing Company was also wonderful at DC. It was a good Day!
