Manwaring Beach lives! Wide open launch. No messing with the Island. Launch and ride in the main corridor of wind. I had fun afternoon in fairly steady winds.

Way to go, Ralph. Did you park on the pull out and hike down and over to the beach? How was the mud in the flats. Also we've called this the DARKSIDE of Island beach. When the water is up, I do prefer it to Island Beach, as you said straight on wind, less shifty. Watch out for the sharp rocks in the old road base.

Thanks for the heads up on this launch Jon! For those that might be interested, coming from Heber, right when you get to Deer Creek there is a pull-out to park at. There is no charge to park there. Since the water is low, the shoreline is just down from there. I walked across the flats about 125 yards to a high spot that was an old road. The road is gravelly but there are dirt patches to the side that are smooth enough to rig. I put my wetsuit and booties on at the car and carried my stuff in one trip. Walking close to the shore is kind of wet and muddy, but you could stay dry if you made a bigger loop around. The wind is onshore but the lake bed slopes gradually so you can walk out quite a ways. Kind of like ULSSB.
