Grant Jr. and I arrived at GV at 8:30 right after a huge wind line had come through and rigged 6.0s with a few rides until it dropped to 7.5/8.5 range. Tim, Jim and Dimitrije arrived shortely after with Dimo`s later arrival due to sacrificing his rides to stop by my house and pick up my high wind gear. All in all an ok morning til 11:00 when it died. Hope it`s better tomorrow!

Glad I brought out G's gear bag with the smaller sails (hey, we were just trying to be sure visiting bike-sail-rockstar Grant Jr. had enough gear to have a good time). It worked great to lay on my 8.5 while I watched everyone sail up and down the lake (north-south!)on a strong west wind until, one by one, they tailwalked and got slammed. Very heroic how long they hung on. Very amusing how they all went down. I woulda been swimmin' sooner if I'd a been out. Luckily, even though I didn't get to sail (there - a rare admitted skunk!), there were many cold beer to be had and we all settled down with Tim's great taco fixin's and beer watching it glass off. G Jr. pointed out the mayfly hatches going on, which I had never seen, and Tim went out to do some fishwhispering, paddling his board around with his flyrod, which I had also never seen.

Odd it started to go east as we drove away, then I saw later a couple of hours there were some strong east winds for a few hours. Very strange.

Local culture and food tips -- go walk around the Donner-Reed museum, just 100 yds north of the main drag and about a couple of blocks east of the road to G-ville Res. You've seen the sign. Couple interpretive signs and neat old log cabins and buggies and sleighs out behind it. Gotta call the G-ville city hall to make an appt to go visit, I guess. Maybe next time. Also - snagged an A & W root beer freeze for the ride home. Tasty.
