What an amazing trip to the Gorge... Once again, it didn't disappoint... We sailed 8 out of 8 days... There were a ton of Utah people up there...

Mike E., Josh S. and I made a 3 man carpool work pretty well. We all survived with some pretty good sized smiles on our faces... Camped up in post canyon usually with the one and only Emmanuel. One of the nights the Hooting owls forced Goldie Lox and Little Red Riding Hood to run to the van screaming! Of course I stood outside laughing only to jump into the tent in the last minute out of self freakage! Gotta say though, they were making some pretty eerie sounds... I got out of the tent soon after to try to see the owls. They were having some strange conversation with eachother. Mike was sure that they were ravenous wolves coming to eat us.

Dougs 5.8 -Rowena 4.2 -Roosevelt 5.2 -Hatch 4.7-Dougs 5.2/4.7-Hatch 4.7/5.2 -Dougs 4.7 -Dougs 5.2/4.2/3.7... The last day at Doug's was a bit of a sweet nuker that brought out some pretty amazing sailors... Darren Fowler, Josh, Manny, and I did a downwinder from the Klickatat sandbar in Lyle down to Dougs. As we came through Rowena it really started to blow pretty hard. The 5.2 was definitely enough at that point. But it was a fun thing to do. Thanks for the suggestion Darren but thanks a ton to Melinda for the shuttle! After the downwinder we sailed 4.2 to 3.7 extremely powered up. Big dark swell that made for epic ramps and awesome surfing rides.

I'll name just a few we we able to sail with, Sarah, Linda, Gunars, Fred G., Tom Whitke, George T., John F., Ken Onstott, Sharon, Dave G, Racheal, Darren, Melinda, Erin, Katherine, Shore (who is tearing it up! Great to sail with Shore at the Hatch), Bob, Dennis, Emmanuel, Tom Hughes, ... And more... Craig, Stuart, and a few others were arriving the day we were leaving... We found ourselves at dinner here and there with Utah sailors. Thanks for the smoked oysters John! ;) I'm sure I've missed a bunch of people... It was surprising to see so many people paying the big gas bucks to get to the Gorge from all over.

And yes, we were noting all the wind that happened here while we were gone. Sacrifices! Actually, of course, I was delighted to hear that it was finally blowing in Utah!!!

My body is in recovery with out a doubt! And I've left out a lot! ;) I'm sure others can fill in the gaps... please do.

I'm not sure Ranger Rick knows what an owl sounds like. If those were owls what were they doing to each other? Anyway, it did scare the sh*t out of me. It was a great eight days of sailing and never went bigger than a 5.6 and ended on a fully powered 4.0 with hugh swell over head high.

 lol

Ken sent me some pics from the Gorge... The album had some other pics in it. Could've been worse:
