10/9/08 SSB 11m instinct
Posted: Sat Oct 11, 2008 6:43 amDitched work at 2:00. I was getting readings of 11 at draper on my phone but when I passed the point of the mountain I could tell it was higher. All the way out to SSB it looked iffy.
When I pulled on to the beach though it was crankin! I was thinkin 9m but by the time I was suited it was feeling like 11m so thats what I rigged. All alone so I sent a text out to the troops. I had to set up on one of the small sandbars and walk out in the water to launch. It was real close to over powered. By the time I made a few passes it felt good. Decided to stay well off the beach in case it picked up. Saw Billy and friends pull up. My being on the 11m suckered (um sorry forgot the name) into putting up a 10m bullaroo. by this time it is picking up to where I am fully depowered. Felt in controll but starting to plan an exit. Rode for an hour or so and headed in and was glad to have Billy help land it in the water otherwise it would have been a wet kite. Should have rigged the 7M or 9m. This cold thick air is deceiving. Had it been summer I would have thought 13m. By the time I left many others showed with only those with 7s or 9s flying. Very fun day as this season nears the end, come on at least one more warm windy day!
