Strawberry exploring
We debated going to Sulpher, but headed for Strawberry, with Kenny's probable forecast. We arrived about 1:45 to not much wind, so we went to check out the other sites. I did not know what Ladders was like, so we went to see. We stopped at CCreek East, to a full parking lot, and lots of ice fishermen out. We decideed to walk out amoungst the fishermen. We qickly found a set of car keys, in the snow, and that became our mission, to see if we could find the owner. The keys did have a remote, so we knew we could find the car in the lot, if it was there. But luckily we found the guy missing the keys, who was very greatful, since that was the only set he had with him.
I would guess we were there for an hour or so, it was beautiful, sunny, clear, warm, and no wind. We walked out on the lake quite a ways, and then headed to Ladders. The parking lot only had about 6 cars there and a few ice fishermen. Also no wind, but it was very nice just walking out on the lake. As a beginer, I would like to go back, it's nice and flat, and the 5 or 6 inches of snow was in good condition.
After that we decided to also check out the marina, and drove to the other side. We noticed the small flags on the road poles moving a bit, when we got close. We looked around to check launcing spots. Since it was light, we decided to play with the trainer kite and check out the south side. As we walked out we saw a kite out a ways. he seemed to be working it a bit, and it even dropped a couple of times. when he finally made it back, we chatted, it was Bob from near Teluride. He mentioned that he had stopped at Strawberry Creek, about 2:00, and it was blowind there a bit too. So Kenny, you were right again, the wind did come up. For us it was a timeing thing, and were were on the wrong side of the lake. One of those things you learn.
