By the time I arrived to the sad and pitiful Rush Lake remnant, Jon M had already come in on his 13m and Marty and Vern were setting up well to the North of the old launch. Put up Jon's new 13m 09 Ozone Sport and headed out only to return a minute later as 35 mph gusts were pegging Marty's magnetic wind meter on top of his car. Jon dutifully pumped up another new 9m Ozone Sport which we took turns on for the rest of the afternoon. Smooth shallow water. Nice to be back on the water. A skim board would be the board of choice for Rush this year.

YUP, Fun while on a plane, a little scary when the 2" fins drag in the middle. One shot makes it look deeper near the shore, little do they know, you were just wallowing in the MUD at the time. Thanks to Marty for the photog work. Wish he could have caught your expression when the 35+er hit when you were on the 13M, like they say 'priceless'. Got a skim, maybe worth bringing it out? Anyway, kinda sad when your first day is your last day at your favorite spot, Good Bye Old Friend (been playing in that Pond for over 20 yrs), K-Man it's all yours, Hey Jason K, How was the launch at Mona.

The launch at mona is wide open. Its a 40 foot, dry, gentle slope down to the water with just a few three-inch-tall weeds here and there that you need to keep you lines away from. I was there once last year (also had a good session that day) and i remember the water being a little higher (guess it was all that snow last year). Even when the water was higher, there was still plenty of space to launch. It doesn't seem to get as strong of a wind as rush - as evidenced by using the 15 yesterday, but i think it's a bit smoother. The water is clean and even has a bluish tint when the sun is shining. Small 1-2 ft rollers when the wind was up. I'd even say it is ok for beginners as you can walk way upwind from the parking area to start and come back in at your car. With Rush so low this year, Mona is highly recommended when there is a strong south forecasted, but i wouldn't make the drive unless there was 20+ wind forecasted as it seems to run a little short of the forecast.
