A nice surprise to see wind at Point of Mtn, and through the SL valley yesterday afternoon. I thought it would be enough to get some rides @ UL, and it was. Called Gunnars and off we went. I left my house @ 4:30 traffic wasn't too bad. We went to Lindon since it was the closest. We arrived to slight caps, that looked pretty steady. First 45 mins were the best, we planed most of the time. Then it started to lighten, a bit and we had to work for our rides. Steve, Brad and Kyrk joined in the fun. It was a nice after work surprise session, cruising the lake.

Jim is going to cringe when he reads your post. We had a nice group down at the boat harbor. I was teaching a lesson. Jim showed up as I was teaching then Carl and his buddy Todd arrived a little later. Very smooth consistent wind. The water is getting nice. I was able to short it.
The lesson went well, a little too much wind to start with but then it backed down some. Michelle, a MIT engineering student here for the summer, did well. Couldn't get her off the water, and she was able the master the basics by the end. Of course I expected great things from a future NASA engineer.
I think everyone came in and packed up around 8:30pm. Great evening.

It was nice being able to drive 5 minutes from home to get a short session in. I was on a 9.0 and got some good rides for a couple hours. I forget how steady the wind is at Utah Lake and it is nice to just set everything and head out across the lake. This was my first session of the year, and it felt good to get back on the water. Full wetsuit a booties but a shortie may have been fine. The water temp was pretty good.

I had fun while it lasted which wasn't very long by the time I got there. I missed the good wind since I didn't arrive until around 7. Rode underpowered on my 11M Waroo and SS Glide for about 20 minutes before the wind was just too light to stay up even for a light weight like me. I could have been ok for only about 15 more minutes on a 15M or so before it was too light to be safe at Lindon. Not much room for error there but it's close to home.
