What a fun morning.. Showed up at little past 7:00 to see a whole lot of surf rats hunkered by their cars wondering about the dark dark clouds hanging west! Then the frenzy started. People started rigging and we hit the water...

6.2? Huh.. too big!! Still a lot of fun but mostly badly overpowered for about 1.5 hours before I decide to leave and still have some hands.. The wind did not stop though and they were a lot of happy sailors cruising along in nice winds and a timid sun when I left.

My new 100l board NAish FS gives out a little top end to my old flying pig but is still pretty fast. Always fun to try a new board!. I need to try it with the right sail / wind combo though but I think it's gonna be a fun one! I could tell it's only 232cm though.. There isn't much nose on that thing

Not necessarily, it was still 5.5 at 11:30 when I left! Sorry to rub that in.

The fishermen looked absolutely pissed.

I got there around 8:30. I looked at the cloud cover and took my time to get out there. I rigged my 5.8 and used my freestyle 100. That was too much. The far side of the lake was blowing 4.7, by the cars it was 5.2 to 5.5. The water is high right now which makes the reaches really fun. I was super stoked after completing my first carve 360, that trick is a bugger.

I had to leave my 10:30 so I was probably only on the water a hour, but well worth getting up early.

Not the typical sunny Grantsville morning but it did blow hard, which is why we go there.

By my count, 9 sailors. Hopefully something tomorrow.

I just got back to SLC last weekend after 8 straight days of sailing in the Gorge and I wasn’t sure my body was ready for another session. And it wasn’t (Heck, I am still in the wrist splints). But there was John last night saying lets get up and go. Wow am I glad I did. When it started off with rain I wasn’t so sure but it wasn’t that long before the sun came out and then you could see the lake covered with whitecaps. The real ripping sessions seemed to start at 9:15 then again at 10:30 when the peak gusts were 29 to 30. Thank goodness I found the Ibuprofen bottle before then. The little 85L Sonic was screaming during those periods. John was on his JP 85L and 5.7 flying around like crazy. In the early session I was struggling and realized Manny was on a bigger sail than me; what an animal. John and I finally quit at 11:30 and were the only ones left. It had gone back above 20 when I pulled out at noon. It is great to have Grantsville full again and it was warm enough today for the short sleeve summer suit. Today was as good a session as any I had in the Gorge. We don’t always appreciate how many great sailing venues we have. The wind doesn’t blow as often, especially this year as alluded to in yesterday’s post by Dimitri, but I bet we get more great sailing sesh’s than most places in the country. And it was great to be back sailing with a bunch of Utah surfrats. Even in the Gorge, the Utah group is the best around.

Got luckly one board 117 and one sail 5.8. Board was to big after awhile but had to go to work so just held on. Best G-spot session of the year for me. Fun to see so many faces.

Well, I`m late posting for the 6/26 session at Grantsville but I have to echo what everybody else said....what a great day and long over due for me! Dimitri and I arrived about the same time the rain showeres started but there were several guys out already and we rigged up, the rain stopped and it was off to the races. I rigged a 6.0 (dimo on a 5.7) and sailed it until my reachs were starting to feel like "mister toads wild ride" then dropped down to a 5.0 and sailed until eleven. It was still blowing in the 5.0 to 6.0 range when I left.
