8/30, DC island beach, 7.2, 125
Not too crowded for an August weekend. I rigged 12.5 on the Formula board and got wet for the first time since Cabarete. It was a bit of an adjustment. DC was a little extra puffy and it took a bit of work to keep things from coming unglued in the stronger, more sustained gusts. The kites seemed to think so too because they folded after a bit. I don't say I'd blame them.
I came in to help Kaerli get her Hypersonic out of the water and decided to take her rig for a spin just to see. Wow. I was pretty much fully wound with her 7.2. What I learned was that the extra 5.3m2 was overkill with the 12.5. Just glad nothing exlpoded. And impressed that Kaerli was riding the 7.2 with that much power. It probably helped her as she got her first ever waterstarts in Utah after starting to stick them in the DR.
I just wish it would have been a bit smoother. Big t-cells started forming over Timp at the end, that's usually an indication that things might get testy. Luckily Jason M showed up when we were de rigging with refreshments including beer options. Get that, like not, "Do you want a beer?" but instead, "What kind of beer do you want?"
Looking forward to some fall days to get things going proper.
