12/20 Pow Mow 10m Frenzy
The forecast said 6-10-SSW wind, increasing to 8-13 tonight. As I headed up, I thought I would just ski if the winds weren't good. I arrived at 12:45 in the parking lot and saw Brian getting ready. His windmeter said 13. Knowing it was probably going to increase and also that I was going to kite the next 4 days I just took my 10m. It was plenty of power. The snow is set up better than earlier this week and the winds increased throughout the day. Probably blowing 20 -25 when I left. Met Jim Hornbeck and the new kiteschool pro, Andy. At one point there were 5 of us flying. Great day and more to come. Still a little bit of brush poking through.
The fishermen are out on Pinview so that looks good to go now also.
The Pow Mow wind gauge is still broke. I have found that the Logan Peak gauge is the most accurate one to use for real time info. Also check Snowbasin-Wildcat and Ogden Peak gauges to get an idea of what the winds are in the area.
