Showed up figuring that there would be little or no wind. Had a few friends from out of town that wanted to XC ski and fly the trainer, so why not show up? I was heckled by the usual suspects for being there late, setting up with zero wind etc. When they left for a holy grail at another location there was little to no wind. I launched the kite hot and to my surprise was able to get upwind and jump (a couple feet) on the small hills. After cruising past my friends and yelling "this is how we conquered Greeeeeeeenlad beyaatch!" (Billy's suggestion) I crossed the road and went to the higher hill northeast of the marina. Snow was great and the wind was decent, good enough to show up for. I stayed out until dark and a snowmobiler stopped by with a video camera and shot for about 10 minutes. Much better than I thought it would be...Really.
