A beautifull day and good wind. I was trying out a 2010 RPM which I liked very much. The only problem was out on the lake I landed a jump and sank into water below the snow. It was over my boot top...yuck! There was ice below with water and then new snow on top so it wasn't visible. I'm guessing I was near an ice hole from fishermen.

I experienced the water last week when I was out in the middle of the lake, far from any fisherman. I made a turn and heard a gurgling sound. I thought it might be my water bottle sloshing, then I realized I didn't have a water bottle with me. My guess is it's from the surface snow melting and trickling down, then the snow layer insulates it so it doesn't refreeze.

Yeah, scary stuff. We rolled by an open hole yesterday as well. It was waaaaaaay out there too. I would think that it wasn't a fishing hole. Zero tracks out there when we showed up. Just a good reminder to all to keep your eyes open!

we were on a downwinder, what a riot 34 miles. We were near the ladders and I was getting tired because of how deep the snow was and how thin my skis are, thanks pepe for the new fat sticks. I was going to stop and take a break when I saw water it was too late to stop so I looped and skimmed over water, scary. I was along way from shore. I like ralphs analogy that hopefully it is snow melting and being trapped. I looked down when I went over it and my skis were 3 inches under slush. I booked to the hills.
