I just finished a good session at Utah Lake. The wind was blowing and a friend reported that the ice was gone. I grabbed the gear and headed out. It was a typical ride with good chop and plenty of room to move around (for some reason nobody else showed up to ride). I rode for about half an hour before I couldn't feel my hands and called it quits.
I am pleased to report that the water season has officially begun for the crazies. I think next time I will bring my gloves.
I have a few pictures on my facebook if anyone cares to see.

Not even in a dry suit. You win the Utah lake trophy...
This year anyway.

The rule of 100 (air temp + water temp = 100) is still a pretty safe rule to live by.

I drove by Lindon at around 4:00 pm. The wind was blowing good but the temp was only about 40 and on Monday there was still ice on the lake so the water temp couldn't have been more than mid 30's. That breaks that rule.

The only rule I live by is, If you want it, freekin go get it. As long as you limited you time out , stayed close to shore, stayed relitively warm,
who cares.

A wetsuit (not a drysuit) and bare hands!! I'm in awe!!! You mention maybe using gloves next time; better yet, check these out:
http://www.isthmussailboards.com/prodin ... DK4400-600 They're way warmer than any gloves I've ever tried, and no, I don't get a kickback from either DaKine or Isthmus.
