DC is nice now. Water is warmish, wind light but fun today. Billy was rocketing around on his new race board. Race boards are going to be the thing this summer. I am going to start shaping one this week. Four big fins. Carbon fiber (of course) on Marko surf foam... 180x59 cm...

this is the shape that has my interest, a "free race" fun board
Not a dedicated go fast board.

Marty that was my feeling with the North shape, There are a bunch more "true race" shapes out there but the north stil has some turn to it, I can throw big spray, do cut backs and jump with it. From the picture of the guy riding the airush it seems likie you still have to hit the flat raceboard style stance, give mine a wirl its a hoot! I know Jason and Jake are trying to get on some alex aguera shapes, thats what I see as a true race board now. the north is just Fun! I have had a blast learning to tack it, and now jibes seem so easy! fun, fun, fun! plus big Jon can get them!

Oh yea and the water is great 5/4/3 suit no booties gloves or hood for me! Great to see Don and His boy Max out when I pulled in! The summer is on!

A freerace board is the way to go. The true dedicated race boards can be really hard on the legs and ankles. Having one centered back strap really helps with this. My board is already outdated as far as racing goes but is a blast to ride on light wind days. It makes light-wind kiting so much more fun than always struggling to stay upwind. I will hang onto my glide, but will probably not ride it that much. With the World Championships getting ready to start it will be interesting to see what the top race board shapes will be. Everyone should get one for the summer!!!
