4/22 Jalama 15m and Cruiser Pro
Posted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 11:00 pmJalama Beach delivered this evening. BIG ass swells (8-13 feet - big for me) After some kite technical diffculties I had a great time with the beach all to my self. I got to spend some time outside the break with 5 curious porpoises!!! Super cool, and beats the ER.
Jalama will beat the crap out of you if you aren't careful. A lot of great surfable waves, but every now and then a crashing closeout tube would slam down. There was a ton of chop, but if you caught a big wave, it seemed to block the wind and leave a glassy surface in front of you. A few time I sat waaaaay back on the board, not wanting to bury my tip because I knew that I would be totally screwed.
Jalama is truly in the middle of nowhere and is well worth the trip. Camping, coin op showers, and you pretty much drive right up to the beach.
