Some early afternoon 9.5 cruising. Light but steady wind until that 5.0 blast came in for a short time around 3:30 or so.

Wind was loopy at Barbwire Beach. I arrived at 2:30 to see the crew sitting around with little to no wind and dark thunderclouds to the south. Wind came up and Peter went out on his 17, while others decided to pack up and leave. Peter rode for 10 minutes and the wind suddenly shifted to the west. Peter was lofted 20 feet high of so and flagged his kite out. The rest of the kiters decided not to go out and instead we watched the windsurfers zip back and forth for 15 minutes or so. Don told me that he saw a windline coming from the south around 3:30. I could not believe it, but sure enough the clouds cleared and we rode. Then it got loopy again with the wind switching to the east for about 5 minutes and then back to SW again (never lost a plane through the shift). Billy tried to gather all of the kiters together for a race when the wind promptly died. Don was stranded clear out on the west side, but got a jetskier to haul him back. Peter got his second walk of shame with the rest of us. It was a weird, wacky afternoon.
