It got serious! I was getting some huge stuff out of my 11.5. My student Laurent got some big pull out of his 7M. Great day. The whore gave it up..... but only for NY minutes.

The mighty Zephyr was a bit much so I went in pumped up the 13m and probably should a ridden the Zeph a while longer as the wind was dying down...oh well!

This is the first time I am calling BS on Jim's meter. In our kite-zone. We had 30mphs +++ . It was heavy. Real heavy.

I don't doubt that the wind was stronger on the water. When I set up a wind meter on a tripod at DCIB, I usually record a higher peak gust than I see on my home weather station. The principal reason probably is the presence of obstructions (trees mostly) between Barbed Wire Beach and my weather station (see attached Google map.)
An additional contributing factor may be the widening out of the valley downwind of the lake.

Wow Jim
Thanks! We love your readings. I was getting lofted on my 11.5m. 20mph does not do that. That is the reason for my doubt.
Cheers,
Don

Jim, I've been enjoying your readings too. I didn't realize you lived so close to DCBB! So, do you have a web url where you share this nicely placed wind meter? I've been relying on the canyons predictor but that doesn't always tell the whole story. Thx.

Travis,
Alas, no. I, too, rely on Sundance Arrowhead, WHEN IT'S WORKING. Anybody know anyone in a position of power at Sundance? We really need to get that station back online!!

I don't even think Bob could get it done.
