8Oth day kiting since 1/1/05
Not much wind anywhere in the forcast, so
I thought there may be a possibility for Pineview to blow.
Doug and I hiked north 100 yards from Cemetary Point pay booth
We were on the water at 1:15
Smooth wind, flat water in the beginning
then screaming upwind, overpowered reaches.
Later in the day, the wind was not as smooth,
but no "drop your kite" type of lulls.
Very, very fun, couple of hours
close to home, and clean (?), deep, water.
After 17 years of sailing Pineview,
I still never know what to expect till I get there.

marty, as hard it is to predict, you must be the pineview expert at this point. have you got any advice on representative mesonet stations or weather patterns to key on? is the rigging area any good? i went to dc again today and sailed from island beach with a guy from wisconsin on his 5.7/ carve 99. then i went up to rainbow bay but the wind petered and lost power so i called it good and wandered back down. meanwhile, people were sailing at sailboat beach. i could see them reaching across the channel while i was reaching windward, probably paul b or mike h. it looked like they had a good time but their wind shut down at about the same time.

The lack of good internet reports is a big problem,
you never know if it was blowing up there
unless you go.
I mainly know when NOT to go.

Don't go if it's blowing from the east (obviously)
Usually unpredictable if any north or south in the valley.
Clouds are usually bad,
The first day after a front has gone by
and the high pressure starts building,
is one of the best chances.
Kinda like Sunday.

Windsurf point, (Bike/Horse trailhead, free parking lot)
by the boat ramp on the NW,
side of the reservoir, over the dam,
is the most popular launch, with good rigging area.(pebbles)
