4.2 and 80L would have been fine. Pretty good swell for a Utard like me. Sailed 11-2. Gusts to 40? I'd do that again.

Late nighter after listening to a sweet band...

Carl, this is the sesh I wish I'd gotten a piece of today... I knew it was going to happen good there... I love that swell too at Willard...

I'll bet down south Darren got some at Yuba.. Can't wait to hear how that sesh went... I was either going to go south or north but alas had to work! Yes, ON A SATURDAY!

How was the swell Carl?

I always felt the swell at willard was a little close together, on a windsurfer,
but it was excellent on a 5'8" surfboard, and it got pretty big.
Big enough to ride 3 or 4 turns before flattening out.
The wind direction stayed good also, making for pretty smooth wind. IMHO
Best day ever, at Willard, this week..ha

Ted was out on my old WS gear,
made me realize,
I don't miss it at all...
But I sure had fun back then.

Willard may be the only good place for kiters and WS'rs,
to ride together, I like that.

second that marty. despite the newbie factor most had to deal with, it was a unique day with killer wind, waves, and weather. yesterday was the second reliable day that windsurfers were gathered with kiters in equal numbers next to the annual meeting. its nice to see the windsurfers do what they do best in cranking wind and big wind swell. i don't think i'll give up the kite soon, but after yesterday i can respect what our fellow windriders do. very cool!

Yeah, I had a good time pacing with Jason on his 9m. Sure glad he didn't want to race me, we were just cruising for a coupla reaches. The swell was a pleasant surprise for me, not as organized as UL or the gorge but short sections, as Marty noted, could be ridden and made turning fun. It did however make the shorebreak a bit of an obstacle getting in and out, not so much for the kiters.
Credit to Marty for birddogging the one dude who was getting lifted off the sand in the direction of the parking lot. He kept an eye on the guy all afternoon and I saw him bust into a sprint at least once to de-fuse a potential sitch-ee-a-shun. Was he a regular?
All in all fun, warm and windy. Just watch out for the wave runners.

ps, the real objective info is as follows:
sail sizes ranged from well powered 3.7, Sarah, Oregon dude, to 4.2 Ted, while realistically my 4.7 was really op'd.
kiters, by report, flew 6's, 7's and 9's. is that accurate?
