The butter zone in the bay is getting out of control. Some riders just stay ther all day and rarely venture out into the lake hogging all the smooth water. You know who you are!!! Please let other riders enjoy the smooth water. Take a few reaches outside and upwind to let others come in for a moment.

I notice some just ride the butter and that is it. Too bad the rest off the lake is just as fun. I probably put on about 20 miles all over that lake yesterday. Getting into the butter is difficult for sure.
Fun day. 11m over to SSB with Mark. Three hours of fun. Then everyone got off the water, wierd!! look up wind and saw a ominous squall coming. shuffled off the water and wrapped up around 7:30. Wish i would have had the energy to rerig a 7m but it was late for me. Anybody go back out?

THere was no going back out after it filled in, Maybe on 4m we all just watched in awe as the wind meter Jay Ray had spacked up into the 60s a bunch of times, just to punch to be fun.
Just a side note for anyone If you bust your eardrum it hurts a ton and you will hate driving up the canyon while it feels like some one is trying to pump up your head. very uncomfortable.... I learned you can tell if it is poped by weather or not you can blow air our of it.... I also learned its hard to type on pain meds like right now.....

Billy was going huge and hard. I watched first hand some really sweet air. Then he exploded, I was right there and he buckled and slammed the H20 hard! His legs went different ways, pretty impresive he did not hurt more.

Yeah I'm guilty of hogging the smooth stuff. Sorry guys. On the other hand, several of us were effectively
sharing that space by using a one way rotation. Maby if some guys would kite more and film less, there
would be alot less butter boarding

Billy - That sucks about your eardrum. I blew mine out a number of years ago barefoot waterskiing. It hurt like hell and I was deaf in that ear for a month. Hope you're not out of commission too long.

Bummer Billy,
Seems like it is something that happens to lots of kiters.
Anyone know what kind of ear plugs to wear to avoid this?

I think wearing any kind of earplug might cause more damage
in the event of that kind of impact, kinda like having a blunt object
hammered into the ear. Who knows.

I have blown my ear drum out, before.
It is air pressure that does it. So ear plugs work. Or wear a waterpolo cap, or any helmet with flaps.

Back when I was trying to learn to loop on a sail board I smacked my head on the water a lot. I wore a ProTec helmet with duct tape over the earholes to protect my ears. I remember several guys blowing out eardrums trying to loop.
BTW, I never did learn to loop.
I use these for kayaking and I bet they would prevent eardrum injuries
