steady at 2pm? Maybe at Barbed Wire beach. I was standing at IB for 3 hrs, rigging with Mark Jackson, adopted rookie of the year. Steve Nyhus was a foot away from me with his rig, in the shade, first parking slot next to the bathroom /Ranger entrance...My beloved Carve 131 was being sold to Steve that day, long story short, my entire rig with 6.0 sail hit the ROOF of the bathroom and exploded the sail. Witness! No one was hurt, mast/carve/boom fine...but honestly I watched Devil Winds til 3pm when it steadied out...the Poltergust happened at I think 145pm, I'm sure Sir Southwick has a Richter Scale printout of the exact moment in time...
I'm not complaining, its that time of year where we don't have a summer true hot thermal. Its wind, Rob, Pete, Steve, Jim adapted, rode out the lulls/gusts like always. I called Josh Shirley, our insurance man and bought a million dollar umbrella policy on the spot, front loaded commission to the max...
