ReallY! Up and down. 17M to 9M out. Freaking scary a few times. No one got hurt.Good thing. Some gear problems for a few. Sucks. And today just proves that if you think you know DCBB.... the whore will show you a whole new scary thing she has. Do not trust her. Respect her.

It was a bit crazy at times. I rode the 11.5 kahoona fully powered and at times way over powered. Once I thought I had a good angle and holding the kite down but a gust pulled me right over. On water thank goodness. That sprint from setup to water was a bit wild too.

I was there for the late shift, kited from maybe 4:15-5:30. Set up the 10m, then looked like it wouldn't be enough and wished i had set up the 14m. saw a windline coming and launched in just enough wind to fly the kite. before i could get to the water, i could barely hold it down and get to my board. Lit on a depowered 10m/small board for an hour+, when the wind abrubtly shut off. had some big ones out there, including a 40 footer that the fisheye lense on the gopro i was wearing didn't do justice to, but the footage did let me see that it was 7+ seconds of airtime!

Sat I got 30' of air at IB...too bad it was my board connected to my sail on the beach. Entire rig committed suicide on the bathroom roof!
Tore my Maui Sail 6.0 in half of course on the biggest panel. Deer Creek in the fall /spring has some hard to explain winds, glad to see the Good Cookie Kiters respect it.

Now I know why Jim S buys the finest anchor ball, leaves his board in the water. At Bird Island they line up the buoys, you walk to your board

Way to represent the late shift Jason! I wanted to go back out, but just wasn't feeling it. The early session started out reasonably well, but there was a 10 minute period where I sailed DUE WEST because the wind had switched to ?SSE? then W then God knows what. Kites lofted and then dropped everywhere, I was lucky to make it back to the beach unscathed. I figured that the wind quality would stay crappy, but it sounds like it went from horrible to just pretty darned bad. An adventure if not great kiting.

There were moments of bliss and moments of wondering if it was a bad idea to even go out. I was on a 13M and probably should've been on a 9 or 10. There were a few times when I had the kite at 1:00, sheeted out, and still couldn't reel in my speed. I moon walked most of the way from the beach back in to launch with a couple of small lofts off the ground. It's always a bit worrisome there when that's happening close to that barbed wire and fence posts near the launch. I think on days like this I'd prefer launching close to the water. There were some people getting pretty big air and I'm not sure all of it was intentional.

I think it just dawned on me that yesterday was scary.When it was happening I was just thinking about how it would suck to have to release, then it backed off and I went in. Other than the crappy lulls, and the insane lofting gusts I had a pretty good time. Water temp is great, all turned out well. If I could go back in time I would do it again.
