Nice evening of lightwind kiting. after a false start around 4:30 petered out, the sky cleared and the wind came up to stay around 5:30. Stayed pretty good for the next half hour, then backed off to very light (but kiteable) for the next hour and finished off a little stronger as the sun set. Great sky, as you can see in the photos (thanks mark and DD). Maybe because the wind was light, i was looking around at other people and i have to say that the local crew has really pushed their skills forward this year. even in the light wind, i saw all kinds of flying twisty turny jumps being thrown by people that weren't doing those tricks at the start of the summer. I travel for kiting somewhat and while there are always a few people killing it at these destinations (just like we have a few here), as a group i think we stack up well against anywhere i've been.

A huge shout out to the Utah kiting community. I am new to kiting and trying to get my feet under me. As opposed to other sports where newbies are often looked down on and pushed to the periphery, everyone I have met here is super helpful, I am sorry to say, even at the expense of their own kiting time. I was at SSB last night and battled the light wind and my inexperience with my 12m kite. I had help from multiple people both on the beach and in the water. I eventually got some really fun riding in and had a total blast.

THANK YOU UTAH KITERS!!!!

Man, those are freaking nice shots. We might not have the best wind. But we definitely has the best view! 8)

Bill, wait until snowkiting season starts. ;)) Bring beers to Skyline and Strawberry!
