12-10-2010 Skyline, 6-12 meter
Its amazing the range of kite sizes one can fly when the wind is in the solid double digits. I went out powered on the 9m 2011 Frenzy and felt like I needed nothing bigger, I even hit 48 mph on a snowboard that session. Meanwhile, some other riders are on 12-15m Mantas on skis wanting to boost higher.
Next I pulled out the new 6.5m Method, a fixed line kite with no depower. I was getting yarded all over and having a blast, and I would not have wanted a bigger size in that model.
Then the wind came howling in, 7meter range. Lit 7's at that.
There were a couple lessons, a new guy from Norway, a couple locals and a platoon of Colorado Snowkiters. I'll post pics later.
All in all it was clear visibility all day. Wind was decent the first half, and then started getting punchy, and then it came down from the heavens with downward gusts that were not welcome. And wither it got better or we got used to it, the day delivered powered rides until sunset.
Windzup,
Brian Schenck
