watched the stockton bar meter showing low-mid 30's all day at work and figured it was low-mid 20's on the lake. looked like the storm was moving in but might clip just north of rush. showed up at 3:30 to winds around 20. pumped the 10m to be on the safe side with the storm just north of me. put on the drysuit and the rain starts to come down. What the heck, i'm gonna be wet anyway and i'm all set up so i start to launch the kite and wind just dies before i get it in the air. i wait in the car for a bit and look over to see my kite starting to move as the wind switches N. Jump out, grab the kite, flip 'er around and jump back in the car. I'm figuring, maybe the storm will pass and i'll have a nice evening north wind. not quite enough wind, and 10 mins later its a torrential downpour. Oh, well. packed up a wet kite and left. welcome to water season in UT.

The water is a bit deeper at rush than my first season here, 4 years ago. The area to the south of our old launch is HUGE, that's where most of the add'l water has gone. The road just N of the fenced in area is fine to get down to the water, but the water is right next to the "road" that runs along the lake and the water is coming over that road futher south near the old launch, which was kind of a dirt area, and that area is now completely covered by water. i'd say you have a 50-50 shot of getting stuck if you don't have 4wd. I recommend taking the "high" road that runs near the fence for a less muddy drive. Also, since the old cleared out launch area is underwater, its kind of a tough solo launch. i guess it will eventually get packed down.

Very excited to hear the south end of Rush is full of water. Looks like I'll finally get a chance to ride my speedboard that's been sitting in my garage the last few years.

Would love to ride Rush again while its in its prime, just hope I wont step
on another bloody tampon. Ahh memories

Wow, there may be enough water for even the windsurfers to enjoy Rush again this year. Can't wait to ride the butter on the south end.

Dave, you have no idea of how gross Rush used to be. There used to be cattle grazing in the area, so you had to avoid cowpies. Rush used to be full of carp until one year when they all died off and we had to tiptoe over the bones and slime to get to the water. Rush was also far more salty. It was truly nasty back in the day.
