Title says it all. We only get 5 SE days a year... and lucky if those have power in them. This year we have claimed 4 powered SE days (& moonlit nights) at Skyline. One a month ago, one last week, one today, and there was another in there somewhere.

Sick day with half a dozen riders. Mike L on the HQ, couple guys from somewhere on Slingshot and Best, Mark from Vegas, Matt D on the Ozone Foil and others including Green Man (myself). SE lit on a 13m Gin Zulu for me, cut across the gully and up the big cornice immediately. Sweet lucky survival moves that felt good. Back and forth for miles. Upwind on second session as deep as possible to trees that divide Mammoth Res. Looked at cutting up side hill to connect to Boscos South Face, but wind was flukey and I was flying an inflatable without a pack or snow shoes, so I wasn't prepared to dare to make the transition behind the trees to gain access to the slope. I'm sure it was possible with more will power or the right gear, the wind definitely was there if you hit the right cycle. Another option for the next generation.

Scored fresh pow tracks under the big corniced slopes, huge gliding jumps ( nothing like the pro's tho :) ) Best ever tho was sticking to the snow and carving hard turns in steep pow like the real downhillers do. FUN. Cut off corniced wind lips like head stones eroding in desert winds. I Destroyed Them.

Did I mention that everything easterly was open and powered. First Time I have ever witnessed so many kiters confidently deep in backcountry terrain at Skyline. AND FUCKING SHIT UP!!!!! It was so sick to rip the big cornices and watch everyone around you deep in foreign territory doing the same. We shouldn't be there, but the janitor left the gate open and we got to play!.

Killer day. The SE opens up so much more terrain at Sky. Half foot of fresh in most spots and deeper in others, made for some fast runs. Rode for as long as I could. I will be sore for the rest of the week. Glad I didn't make the mistake of heading to Strawb!
