13 hours of below freezing temperatures and a skiff of new snow greatly improved snow conditions compared with Tuesday; as I walked out to set up, I was breaking through the surface crust every few steps, but once I got my skis on, that ceased to be a problem. As to the wind, when I arrived at about 9:30, there was almost none (peak "gust" 6 mph.) Decided to set up anyway, "just in case." Almost regretted that decision as a snowmobiler took dead aim at my lines. Fortunately, I was able to yell a warning (plea) in time, and he changed course. By the time I was set up, the wind had filled in considerably, to the point that I was pretty wound at times on the 11m foil. More westerly than usual, so I might have been better off somewhere else, but all in all, a surprisingly good session, especially for this late in the season.

Billy on water and Jim on snow - what's wrong with this picture?

Kited the River Friday. The wind was a bit too Westerly, but the smoothness was unreal. I think the clearing winds from the last two storms was a bit weak. My guess is that the zonal flow didn't really let the North flow do it's thing. After my session I headed East on a road trip to Aspen. The area just past the View Spot looked like it would have been fun as well, especially with the West wind. Tomorrow, Tuesday looks promising and I will be back at the River.
