Rehoboth Bay and Dewey Beach, 7/6 -7/8
Posted: Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:28 pmThere were storms in this area three days in a roll. The wind just before the storm is typically the gusty mess that we think is smooth by Utah standard. Rode the 13 meter Sport II most of the time, with various boards. The swells on the bay side can get pretty big on a windy day. Today was one of those days for a few hours. I felt like a kid who just learned how to jump over couple of swells and kept doing it for an hour.
I also got to try the 9 meter 2009 Ozone Edge Rx. I had boosted some pretty big ones with the Mega Kahoona. But my first try with the Edge Rx was: holy cow! I got so high up I thought I won't be coming down! Now I know why they put pads under the foot straps. I can't wait until I get the 11 meter!
It has been a great summer vacation in east coast this year. My water riding skill had improved drastically because of the safety a shallow bay gives me. I highly recommend anyone who can make it out to east coast to give Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Bay a try. In fact, most of the Delmarva area is very kite friendly as there aren't as many kiters out here.
