Not to be out done by our pole boarding brothers and sisters, we darksiders also got some coverage in Aprils issue of 'The Kiteboarder Magazine', our own Heather Schenck, was featured in their Close Up section. As many of you know, Heather and Brian are owners of Windzup, based here in Draper and are the US distributors of OZONE snow and now WATER KITES. They are tireless supporters of snowkiting locally and across the US. We also scored throughout the magazines other articles, several more mentions of snowkiting events, that they have sponsored, at Skyline. A MAJOR tip of the hat to Heather and Brian for a job well done in promoting our sport and taking such great care of the locals!!
They have helped me score one of the first full sets of INSTINCT "Bow Style" water kites in the US. I have them available for you to DEMO, if only the wind would blow. How about it Craig? Also, why is it that when ever you get new gear, the wind goes away? Go figure. Oh well, new stuff looks great pumped up or rigged up on the lawn.

look promising for several days. If I were in control of the weather,

I don't think the Instinct is a "Bow Style" kite.
A true "bow" as the LEGAIGNOUX BROTHERS design,
has a swept trailing edge, and bridles.
"The main innovation consisted in putting sweep, i.e. to move back the wing tips compared to its centre until the trailing edge is concave"

The few times I've been on the Instinct,
It has more of a "c" kite feel,
than my Turbo Diesel, (a true "BOW")
BUT,,,
with the depower, quickness, and low end, and safety of a "bow"
without the inversion problem associated with "bows"
These kites get thier low end from apparant wind, or kite speed,
not grunt, like a "c" kite
I like to compre it to the feel of a wing, compared to a bucket.

I'm not sure I'll ever fly my 16.5M Contra again.
My 12M, got me up wind as easy, if not easier than my 16.5M on Sunday.
(and I'm sure the Instinct 13M will be one notch better.)
I like the feel of the Instinct so much,
I've bought a 9M Instinct.
And am 95% sure I will buy a 13m.
I just need a good wind day to feel the kite.
( I've only flown the 9m, and the 11M in underpowered conditions.)

I've sold my 7M, 9M, and 11M, that paid for my 9M.
and I will probably sell my 13M and 16.5M.
All will be replaced with the 9M, and 13M Instinct.

2 kites cover the range of 5,
do the math (less $$$$$)

200 lb guys could do a 11M and 15M
150 lb guys/gals could do 7M and 11M

Soooo....

to make a short story looong,,,,,,

The Instinct is a Hybrid, not a "bow"

although any inflatable that is not a "c"
will probably always be called a "bow"

At 230 you will need a bigger kite than a 15M to kite much on the water in Utah. Get yourself a 20M. If you want a used one, I am selling a 20M Gaastra Stealth for $250. If you want a new kite, I would take a look at the Waroo 20M.

I dont know if I should be taking advice from the someone riding salt ponds with a 26m. But I like what I'm hearing and I would love to try the 20m Waroo. I'm getting slightly different vibes from Marty. Smaller kite, biggerr board. Maybe we could all sit down and discuss over some poker. Firm believer in going big, then go home and rig smaller.

Read the Forums, and decide for yourself.
Smaller kite = faster kite = funner kite.
