I'm new to the area and am looking for someone to kite with; I will admit I'm still very green at the sport. Is anyone going out to Rush or Utah lake this weekend?

Thanks,

i'm still green as well. i think i'm heading out to utah lake this weekend if the wind is up. be careful at rush being new to the sport. the moss and weeds are so over grown there that if you let your kite dip into the water, or crash, it is very difficult to get it back up without assistance. my buddy learned that last week when he ended up with about 50 pounds of moss and weeds wrapped all around his lines and i had to help him walk in. also, make sure you take your fins off your board or have very very small fins as once you get up, the weeds grab them. i had some large 4" fins on the front that were actually grabbing the weeds and bogging my board down once i got up and "planning."

call me or IM me if you end up going. i need another newbie to learn with.

I agree with Mike, Rush is a real pain for newbies. I wish I had not invited Mike to go out there last week.

You will need to wait for a good north wind at Utah Lake. Watch Craig's forecasts and check the Bluffdale (Utah Lake Predictor) in the early evenings. Utah Lake will usually get a good north if the reading is over 10 mph out of the north for an hour or so. However, this time of year thunderclouds can mess everything up!

This is the time of year when Utah riders go to the gorge to ride.
