Sail Numbers - Any history here?

As part of the utah summer games I had Steve Nyhus (thanks a million) cut out sail race numbers on his school's equipment (thanks to Riverton High.)

10 inch tall black vinyl letter cut outs. Starting with "UT01" all the way through "UT15".

I was just planning on handing them out as people registered for the event, but Rick and I thought we should ask first:

Is anyone claiming dibs or rights to a number?
(We doubt it, but thought it would be important to ask, so not to offend)
I have only been windsurfing for the last 6 years so I don't know if there ever was a numbering system from back in the days of Milo Sport sponsored races.

So I guess, if you commit to the race (don't need to pay until day of) then you can claim your number. I am sure everyone will be emailing/calling as fast as you can because you think your number 1 or because everyone in Utah is so humble I will be handing out UT15 first.

Or do you think that a certain individual deserves the number one? Like the top GPS speed posted before the Summer Games? That would currently be Ken O. and Jason M (for kiters.)

Hi Guys,

I wouldn't swear to this, but I believe that the last pair of Utah State Windsurfing Champions MAY have been Rick Revenaugh and Kay Kucera. That ought to make their numbers pretty low, I would think. As mentioned, perhaps Duane Bush might know for sure. I know Rick does most of his sailing in distant destinations like Baja California and the last I heard of Kay, she had migrated permanently to the Gorge. Both are SUPER skiers, too. Maybe someone else knows more.
