snowkites vs. inflateables?

question? i have inflateables ozones 15,13,9. and one frenzy 10m. what do most of you seasoned kiters like on snow, foil or inflateables. I cant wait for snowkiting, and have too much time and not enough wind to think about it. i learned on the frenzy last winter. but the instincts are nice as well. if money were not much of a issue, it is. which kite is better for snow? my feeling is the frenzy is nice for convience on snow. and the inflateable could last longer if not used for snow. next what is my 10 equivalent to instict wise, 13m or 9m. and what size would be a size up for me a 12 or 14 frenzy to use with my 10 frenzy. wow lots to think about. just wondering what other seasoned kiters have found?

Todd,

You have a good quiver for the snow. There is no reason to buy any more kites. The Instinct 15 generates about the same power as a Frenzy 12M. IMHO it also has more depower (at least compared to the 07 and older Frenzy kites, the 08 promises more depower). You Instinct 13 is roughly equivalent to your 10M Frenzy and the 9M Instinct is probably in the neighborhood of a 7 or 5M Frenzy. It is a good high wind kite.

The only kite I would tell you to consider is a Manta II 15M for gliding. If you are not planning on doing any gliding, you are all set.

I do want a foil though, maybe a 12 frenzy. the reason is i get work late and have small window to have fun, less pumping, ride more. is a 14 too big?????????

Todd, I've got a bit of your bug. I like my inflatables for snow because of speed in the air and depower. But its hard to beat the beauty of unroiling a foil in fresh powder in a couple of minutes and heading off. My 10m Frenzy wasnt big enough the last couple of years, so I'm hoping to try a bigger kite, maybe 13m frenzy or 12 Manta. I got very use to the depower of SLE's, so I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be on a bigger foil. Only one way to find out.

i agree. i like the 10m frenzy i bought from you. Also was too small in light wind. My belief is i can have foils for snow that will keep my sle's fresher for water, last longer. my question is how big to go with a foil. 12 seems to be a good number. i have heard any bigger is slow. i am going to sell my 15 instinct. read jasons post about a 13m edge was faster and his choice for big kite. that is where i am heading for water. my 15 flys the same as my 13 sport. i would like to know more about manta, guess i will do some reading.

Dude I'm thinking about picking up a 15m Manta this year.

I just picked up the 2008 frenzy 11m. I flew it in the park and was amazed at how well it flew in a very light breeze. I figure I will get a little more time on this then maybe trade up to the manta. I have my 13m instinct or my 9M waroo inflatables or I can use one of my old peter lynns that I still like for flying in the snow. Not sure yet If I prefer one over the other as far as inflateables vs foils but I can hardly wait to let ya know. I am stoked to be starting out the season with some choices instead of how it has been for me, and being limited to one or 2 choices.
So what is the scoop this year at skyline? Will most people be camping at the new parking lot? Motels? Or possibly get some people to pitch in and rent a cabin? Will there be a party like last year down in the town or is all at the hill?
