Coverage on pineview is good. I've driven by many times but haven't made it out yet. Wanted to on x-mas day but got too busy, plus I wanted to enjoy the fresh pow up on Basin. Anyway, there have been a lot of fishermen out on the lake so I have no doubt that ice thickness is plenty thick. Maybe I'll make it out tomorrow....
Pow mow- I haven't been up there yet, too busy. Les or Augie should have reports soon. As far as I know you need some sort of pass, but I think it lets you ride the quad back up after you're done.

It looks good out there. Jacob did a clinic at the top of the sunrise lift with a trainer today and I did one by the main parking lot. I havent ridden out there yet but I think it looks good for snowkiting judging by what I saw from the top of the sunrise lift. They have had alot of snow in the last week. Wind was good and will be nuking tomorrow. We'll be doing some intro clinics tomorrow and will try and get some riding in.
I agree with Nate. Pineview has been frozen for some time and has seen alot of ice fisherman. Should be great for kiting if there is a good frost layer between the fresh snow and ice.
You'll need the $20 kite pass to kite Pow Mow. Its nice to be able to ride the puma lift to the kite area officially and get some freshies while riding to the bottom of the Hidden Lake chair after a session.

There plenty of snow up there to snowkite at Pow Mow. The coverage is great.
Drove by PineView on my way home. it's Frozen over with snow on top and 20 ice fishmen.
It was dumping snow when I pass Pineview's dam.

I kited for 3 hours on Friday at Pow Mow. The wind was 22-25 at the wind gauge at the top of the Hidden Lake lift. Snwo coverage is great- not sage brush and the surface is mostly supportable. Kited till I started to get cold and then left. It was very cold that day.
Went to Monte Cristo on Saturday. Saw Eric G and friend. Winds were a little on the light side but still flew the 10m Turbo Diesel. That kite may not be much of a water kite but it sure self launches and lands very safe and smooth. You can even land it on the edge of the window and it will stay there while you walk over to it.
